![]() After mocking everything up the motherboard and graphics cards fit well but we really didn’t have a lot of space to work with to fit a radiator big enough to cool two 970’s and a 2700k. Cut everything out of the case we didn’t need like drive bays and cut cable routing holes into the case for the PSU wires. Fast forward to the build, we had to drill and tap all new mounts to fit an ATX board. After a good alcohol bath, the parts looked brand new. Same day we hit the road drove two hours to some random craigslist deal where we thought the PC was clean and decent, to showing up to some PC covered in cat dander with a strong smell of ammonia but it booted and worked fine so we scooped it for a deal. We hit craigslist and came upon some decent 2700k build in an old NZXT Phantom case that was priced cheap it had the same Gigabyte GTX 970 that we had kicking around so the thought of SLI came into our head instantly. My friend stumbled upon the case (some old Dell we think) at his work in a pile of scrap, the thing was covered in dust and oil it was a perfect candidate for what we always had in mind to build a scrapyard/craigslist sleeper with older budget parts and pretty it up with hardline watercooling to show it off at LANS. Long story short, that is a great purchase for that price. (using a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and Magni 2 Uber now) Just pulled the trigger on a set of Vanatoo Transparent Zero and suspect that will kick everything up a notch aswell. Honestly, this cheaper setup sounds better than the old Promedia's. Switched to Micca MB42x, Cheap Sound Appeal 100-T amp with headphone amp, and cheap 100watt 10inch sub. I stopped using them because the headphone amp portion started delivering a bit of static. Never got to that part but the fan cooling should be enough since I didn't use the speakers a whole lot. I had the diagram laying around somewhere. Hooked a 120mm fan up to the power in amp and had it cooling the problem parts. You might look into buying that fan setup he has. I did buy that repair kit offered by someone on ebay that knows his stuff on that set of speakers. ![]() ![]() I just used the little control pod as a headphone amp most of the time and that saved the components in the amp. I was in apartments for years and never could really use the speakers. I have had the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's since they came out. You guys are stuck on NEW and CHEAP, men hair buns, skinny jeans and vapping. The cool thing about all of this is, you tweeners and millennials will never EVER go out and buy this stuff from under me. I've turned down a few offers so far, one legit, one that I suspect was just bs talk but still. It's almost sickening the crappy sound that comes from the new 2.1 Klipsch's that the Chinese have literally raped from the inside out compared to these things. I keep myself well covered and taken care of. It's right next to my Sony w900 that's also new in the box.ĭon't worry bro. I also have another Ultra 5.1 in the box like new I'm saving for a backup. yeah there's not much ever going to beat the sound for the $110 I paid. I have an older version tied in with AIMP of iZotope Ozone 3 I was able to buy new for $10 and with flac's the sound is incredible. Depending on luck and your brains, you can normally come out ahead.īeen using it a few weeks now, amazing amazing sound. No disrespect but you guys can't live life being scared of shit.
